Training the Whole Singer

Your voice doesn't exist in a vacuum--it exists within you. It is nestled in your physical body, and shaped by your experiences, your values, your personhood. And as your voice grows, it reflects its growth right back into you. You may find yourself becoing more confident, more sure of your decisions, and more of a light - on the stage and off it.

Audition and Competition Prep

Studio work often includes preparation for:

All-State , NATS , The Schmidt Vocal Competition, and other competitions
School and community musical theatre auditions
Summer program auditions
College/conservatory prescreens and live auditions
Supplemental arts applications for highly selective colleges and universities

Building Your Book

Repertoire selection shouldn’t feel like a last-minute panic. Each semester, students take stock of what’s already in their book, identify what’s missing, and add material strategically.

By the time students leave the studio, they should have a varied, reliable collection of songs that feels like them — and that they can walk into an audition ready to use.

That gives you a nice contrast with the bullet-heavy audition section above it.

Registration + Mix/Belt

Mix isn’t one sound, and it isn’t a trick. Students learn to understand registration, explore the many balances available between chest and head voice, and make intentional choices based on style, range, and the sound they want to make.

The goal is a flexible, sustainable voice that can move from legit to contemporary musical theatre—and everything in between—without sacrificing individuality.

Problem-Solving through Play and Experimentation

Learning to sing can be so scary, especially when there are internal and external voices judging you every step of the way. This studio is a judgement-free zone. We learn to sing because it is fun and hilarious and the best thing ever. And truly, there is no such thing as WRONG.

Through experimentation and play, we figure out what bits of technique make the student say things like, "Oh my God that felt SO much better" and "I didn't know I could do that!' and "Whoa, can we do it again?!?"

Building Community

Whether its a high-stakes competition or a ridiculous improv studio class, the students in this studio support each other deeply. And because they love the same things and are there for each other while experimenting and taking risks, most students walk out of this studio with friendships that will last a lifetime.

Authenticity and Artistry

Technique is only useful if it helps you say something. Students learn to make clear artistic choices, connect deeply to text and music, and explore what makes their own voice distinctive.

The goal is not to imitate someone else’s sound or performance. It is to build enough technique, confidence, and self-awareness that what comes through is unmistakably you.

Initial Fit Session

Lets see if we're a match!

Initial fit sessions are the first step towards investing in your instrument. Your initial fit session includes:

an honest assessment of your strengths and weaknesses as a singer, which includes:
- aural skills
- tone quality + vocal health
- breath + bodywork
an in-depth discussion of your goals
a plan! Where do we go from here?

The 90-minute initial fit session is $175 and should be pre-paid upon booking.

Drop-In Lessons

Have an audition coming up? Want a technique pick-me-up? Do a lesson or two without a regular commitment. Fifty-minute drop-in sessions are $135 each and should be pre-paid upon booking.
